With the inclusion of Lightning mustard it will create a canopy of early cover to protect the kale plants from flea beetle and pigeon attack. Once the mustard dies back later in the Summer, the kale can then grow on underneath.
Provides cover for the whole Winter and as long as the crop is not too thick, each plant will develop a strong firm stem, resistant to most Winter winds.
