Uses

This has been created to benefit both game and wild birds, and is an excellent alternative to maize cover. Complies with ELS and HLS requirements. Can be specially mixed with wildflowers to attract butterflies, bees and insects.

Value

Lasts up to two years. Gives cover for pheasants and partridge into January, and feed from September to December. Small wild birds will reap the benefits too.

Fine and firm.

Drilling

Best drilled just under the surface (quarter to half inch) in 15-20 inch rows. Can be broadcast.

Light roll only.

Bugs & Beasts

Look out for flea beetle in the kale and linseed (at the first sign, see your advisor).

Weeds

Use a stale seedbed as limited chemical control available.
