A cross between a black mustard and a wild Ethiopian kale - traditionally used as a grazing crop by nomadic farmers.

Quick-growing late sown cover crop - excellent standing power with large leaves like kale.
Good as a recovery crop, providing Winter shelter for all game birds.
June - July. If sown early Spring, the crop will go to seed and become very tall and thick.
Fine and firm.

Bugs & Beasts
Watch out for flea beetle, but it tends to outgrow the attack.
Use a stale seed bed, but does tend to outgrow weeds.
Club root can be a problem if grown continuously for more than 5-6 years, so appropriate rotation is strongly recommended (phone us for advice).
